Kaweah MLRP Planning Process
Kaweah Multibenefit Agricultural Land Repurposing Plan (MALRP)
The Kaweah MLRP partners are working to develop a Multibenefit Agricultural Land Repurposing Plan (MALRP). This plan will provide tools for identifying land repurposing strategies and projects that reduce reliance on groundwater while simultaneously supporting a viable agricultural economy and investing in improved community and environmental health outcomes. The Kaweah MALRP is not only aligned with broad MLRP goals and desired outcomes, but also with other regional restoration and land repurposing efforts in the Subbasin. The program aims to be consistent with the Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) for the three GSAs in the Kaweah Subbasin, as well as the Regional Conservation Investment Strategy (RCIS) and Integrated Regional Water Management (IRWM) Program.
The Kaweah MLRP partners will be soliciting feedback from local stakeholders on planning elements of the MALRP. If you’re interested in participation, please contact us.
